This Database Associate certification is an entry level exam for a user of any of the DB2 family of products. This individual is knowledgeable about the fundamental concepts of DB2 10.5 through either hands on experience or formal and informal education. The database associate should have an in-depth knowledge of the basic to intermediate tasks required in day-to-day administration, basic SQL (Structured Query Language), understand which additional products are available with DB2 10.5, understand how to create databases and database objects, and have a basic knowledge of database security and transaction isolation.

Section 1 – Planning (16%)
Knowledge of DB2 products (DB2 for LUW Editions and DB2 for z/OS � at a high level; when/why would you use each?)
Knowledge of database workloads (OLTP vs. Data Warehouse; what is the appropriate product to use for each?)
Knowledge of DB2 10.5 BLU Acceleration (i.e., the ability to configure a DB2 database for analytics, when BLU Acceleration should be used)
Knowledge of Oracle Compatibility Features

Section 2 – Security (18%)
Knowledge of restricting data access (authorities and privileges vs. views vs. RCAC vs. LBAC � at a high level; when is it appropriate to use each?)

Section 3 – Working with Databases and Database Objects (16%)

Knowledge of different types of tables available (Base vs. MDC vs. ITC vs. RCT vs. MQT vs. Partitioned vs. Temporal � at a high level; when is it appropriate to use each type?)

Section 4 – Working with DB2 Data Using SQL and Xquery (23%)
Ability to use SQL to SELECT data from tables
Ability to use SQL to UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT data
Knowledge of transaction management (COMMIT, ROLLBACK, AUTOCOMMIT and SAVEPOINTs)
Ability to create and call an SQL supported procedure or a user defined function (understanding of passing parameters and obtaining results)
